The Church is the centre of social activities within the village. Since 1979 when the Church commissioners declared the church redundant and proposed it's demolision there has been a strong movement not only to save the building but to use it on a regular basis.
The Church building and events are managed by the Friends of Papworth St Agnes Church (FOPSAC) on behalf of the Friends of Friendless Churches.
In the 1980's there was a huge effort made to raise funds and to restore the building which had fallen into a sad state of repair. Since then on-going events have raised funds to keep the building in good repair, to replace the clock (1998) and most recently to get the inside replastered, which is due to be done early in 2008.
Although much of the activity revolves around the annual social events, the Church is used occasionally for weddings and funerals. Also, cream teas and plant sales have taken place when the building is open for Heritage Open Day. The Church is also hired out on for a variety of uses, such as a film location, fashion show and even book signing.
